Ethiopian Airlines Expands African Network with New Mauritius Route

Ethiopian Airlines Launches Direct Addis Ababa–Mauritius Flights to Boost Tourism and Trade

Ethiopian Airlines will launch a new direct passenger service between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Port Louis, Mauritius, on July 12, 2026, further strengthening air connectivity across Africa.

The new route will operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, using the airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

According to the flight schedule, Flight ET887 will depart Addis Ababa at 08:50 and arrive in Port Louis at 15:20, while the return Flight ET886 will leave Mauritius at 16:15 and land in Addis Ababa at 20:45.

The new service forms part of Ethiopian Airlines’ strategy to expand its African network, improve regional connectivity, and support tourism, trade, investment, and business travel across the continent.

Group Chief Executive Officer Mesfin Tasew said the airline is pleased to make Mauritius more accessible to travelers from across Africa and international markets.

“It is with great excitement that we embark on this direct flight service to Mauritius, making this beautiful island destination more accessible while simultaneously enhancing business, trade, and tourism opportunities,” Tasew said.

He added that expanding the airline’s African route network remains a key pillar of its strategy to strengthen economic integration and deepen connections between African countries and the rest of the world.

The Mauritius service complements Ethiopian Airlines’ existing regional network and provides passengers with convenient connections through Addis Ababa, one of Africa’s largest aviation hubs.

The new route is expected to significantly reduce travel times while improving access to the airline’s extensive global network.

Ethiopian Airlines currently serves more than 160 passenger and cargo destinations worldwide and is Africa’s largest airline by network coverage.

The carrier continues to expand its fleet under its Vision 2035 strategy, which aims to position the airline among the world’s top 20 aviation groups.

The airline operates a modern fleet that includes Boeing 737, 777, and 787 aircraft, Airbus A350-900 and A350-1000 jets, and De Havilland Q400 turboprops. It is also a member of the Star Alliance global airline network.

The launch of the Addis Ababa–Port Louis route is expected to boost tourism to Mauritius, renowned for its beaches, luxury resorts, and multicultural heritage, while creating new opportunities for trade and investment between the island nation and the rest of Africa.
