TAAG Angola Airlines and RTX Pratt & Whitney Canada have entered into a six-year engine maintenance agreement, ANGOP reported last week from Luanda.
The agreement covers 13 PW150A engines and an additional spare kept in inventory, according to a statement from the Angolan carrier.
This collaboration is part of a Fleet Management Program (FMP™), allowing Pratt & Whitney to tailor its services to meet TAAG’s specific operational needs. TAAG’s CEO, Nelson de Oliveira, expressed confidence in the engine manufacturer’s expertise to ensure the maximum productivity and efficiency of the airline’s PW150A engines.
Oliveira highlighted that the Dash 8-400 aircraft, powered by the PW150A engine, is well-suited to the airline’s requirements, offering a capacity of around 75 passengers, high fuel efficiency, and overall reliability.
Irene Makris, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Pratt & Whitney Canada, emphasized TAAG’s crucial role in national and international aviation, serving Angola and beyond.
She noted the importance of airlines like TAAG in providing regional connectivity, facilitating passenger mobility to major urban centers and international destinations.
The FMP package acquired by TAAG includes Pratt & Whitney’s advanced fuel analysis technology and the FAST™ diagnostic and prognostic solution.
This technology wirelessly records, analyzes, and transmits flight data immediately after engine shutdown.
Pratt & Whitney’s PW100/PW150 engines power 90% of the 30-90 passenger regional turboprop aircraft in operation today.
These turboprop engines consume 25 to 40 percent less fuel and produce 50 percent fewer CO2 emissions than regional jets of similar size.
