TAAG Achieves Historic Cargo Milestone with 96 Tons of Freight to Angola

TAAG-Linhas Aéreas de Angola announced a significant achievement last Friday, transporting 96 tons of material from its European distribution center in Liege, Belgium, to Doutor António Agostinho Neto International Airport in Angola. This milestone marks a historic moment in TAAG’s cargo operations to Angola.

The operation was conducted using a Network Aviation Group Boeing 747-400F freighter. In a statement released yesterday, TAAG highlighted that since March, its cargo operations have transported over 350 tons across various routes, including national, regional, and international destinations.

“This represents not only a vital link between the European Union and Angola, especially for the Oil and Gas industries, but also for other companies with substantial cargo needs that cannot be accommodated on passenger flights from Lisbon,” the statement noted.

David Ambridge, TAAG’s Director of Cargo and Mail, remarked, “The May 3rd flight carried the largest cargo load since the route restarted, reinforcing our confidence that economic agents recognize the value of this weekly flight to Luanda.”

The Boeing 747-400F freighter can carry up to 105 tons of large-sized material, including parts up to 20 meters long, which can be efficiently loaded onto the aircraft.

“With this milestone, TAAG reinforces its commitment to promoting the Luanda hub, providing international connections, and facilitating import and export channels to support industry needs.

This effort aligns with our digitalization plan for the cargo business, streamlining services to contribute to Angola’s growth plans,” the statement concluded.
