MSC Launches Weekly Feeder Service to Lekki Port, Strengthening Nigeria’s Global Trade Links
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the world’s largest container shipping line, has launched a new weekly service to Nigeria’s Lekki Port, strengthening the port’s connection to regional and international trade networks.
The new service operates through a feeder connection with Lomé, Togo, linking Lekki with other major Nigerian ports, including Apapa and Tin Can Island.
The weekly schedule is expected to provide importers and exporters with more frequent and reliable cargo connections.
The service adds to a growing number of international shipping connections at Lekki Deep Sea Port, reflecting increasing confidence in its ability to handle larger vessels and growing cargo volumes.
Lekki Port is Nigeria’s first deep-sea port and has been developed to accommodate large container vessels and support more efficient cargo handling.
The arrival of MSC’s weekly service is expected to improve shipping options for Nigerian businesses by providing more predictable connections to regional and international markets.
It could also help strengthen supply chains by increasing the frequency of available cargo services.
The development comes as Lekki continues to attract major international shipping lines. In July, the port welcomed the HMM-ONE Alliance service, further expanding its links with global shipping networks.
MSC’s latest service therefore represents another milestone in Lekki Port’s development as a major maritime gateway for Nigeria and the wider West African region.
