Tanzania Port Authority Reduces Wharfage Port Charges to Boost Trade with Zambia

The Tanzania Port Authority has recently announced a significant reduction in Wharfage Port Charges for containerized cargo bound for Zambia, slashing rates by over 50%.

This move aims to alleviate the financial burden on businesses and enhance the efficiency of trade operations.

Transport and Logistics Minister, Frank Tayali, has expressed satisfaction with this decision, noting its potential to stimulate trade between Tanzania and Zambia.

He emphasized that the lowered charges will facilitate increased cargo volumes from Zambia through ports such as Dar-es-Salaam, Tanga, and Mtwara.

Minister Tayali highlighted the broader benefits of this initiative, attributing it to the principles of economic diplomacy championed by President Hakainde Hichilema.

He urged Zambian businesses to capitalize on this favorable development to expand their operations and seize new opportunities.

These statements were conveyed in a press release by Ndubi Mvula, the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, as reported by ZNBC News.
