The one-stop border system at the Ressano Garcia border post between Mozambique and South Africa is set to be operational within three years, according to a report from Noticias.
This development aims to increase cargo volume and promote industrialization along the Maputo Corridor.
A feasibility study for the project will commence in August, with the concession agreement expected to be signed by December. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2026.
The initiative is designed to meet national and regional demands for modern infrastructure, leveraging Mozambique’s geostrategic position.
This update was announced in Maputo by Ambrósio Sitoe, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), during the VIII Port of Maputo Conference.
The one-stop border system will streamline cross-border processes, significantly reducing the time required for bureaucratic procedures when entering and exiting both countries.
