Mozambique Implements Vehicle Inspection for Transport of Dangerous Cargo

The Mozambican Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIC), in collaboration with the National Institute for Standardization and Quality (INNOQ), has initiated vehicle and equipment inspections for the transportation of hazardous materials to ensure compliance with safety standards.

In partnership with the National Road Transport Institute (INATRO), INNOQ has commenced seminars across the country to inform stakeholders about the inspection process and emphasize the importance of adhering to safety protocols in the transportation of dangerous cargo.

Geraldo Albasini, Director-General of INNOQ, emphasized the primary objective of ensuring safety in the transportation of hazardous goods.

He highlighted that the inspections will be conducted nationwide until June of the current year to guarantee the safety of drivers and prevent environmental risks associated with the transportation of dangerous materials.

Albasini further noted that dissemination activities will extend beyond seminars in the southern region to include central and northern regions, with additional efforts through social media platforms to raise awareness about the regulations.

The launch event was attended by regulatory authorities, representatives from the transportation sector, and companies involved in transporting hazardous materials.
