Minister Ricardo Viegas d’Abreu emphasized the urgency for transport sector operators to accelerate ongoing projects during the closure of the XV Consultative Council in Lobito, Benguela province, on Friday.
Highlighting the importance of executing national interest programs, particularly those supporting the production sector, Minister d’Abreu underscored the potential of the Lobito Corridor to stimulate economic diversification and enhance other sectors.
A pivotal initiative proposed includes establishing the National Agency for Transport Facilitation and Transit of Goods, aimed at enhancing logistical connectivity among Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia.
Furthermore, Minister d’Abreu challenged stakeholders to integrate the National Network of Logistics Platforms with the transport infrastructure to leverage intermodality, thereby promoting economic growth and internationalizing Angola’s economy.
Regarding fleet modernization at TAAG, the national airline, Minister d’Abreu characterized this effort as a transformative step, essential for expanding connectivity options within Africa, akin to successful models such as Ethiopian Airlines and Kenya Airways.
The XV Consultative Council of the Ministry of Transport, themed “Consolidating Reforms in the Sector and Promoting Angola towards a Regional Transport and Logistics Hub,” convened in Lobito, setting a strategic course for sectoral advancement and national development.
