Angola’s Ministry of Transport to Receive High-Performance Vessels for Port of Namibe in 2025

The Ministry of Transport will receive four high-performance vessels for the Port of Namibe in the first quarter of 2025, following a financing agreement with the Japanese Government.

Signed on April 5th between Damen Shipyards Group and Toyota Tsusho, the contract includes the delivery of two ASD 2813 tugs, a Pushy Cat 1004, and a Stan Pilot 1905.

Ricardo Viegas D’Abreu, Minister of Transport, emphasized the importance of ports and shipping activities in boosting national economic corridors.

He expressed satisfaction with the partnership’s results, especially with the upcoming international competition for the concession to manage the Southern Corridor, of which the Port of Namibe is a key component.

“Ports are a fundamental part of the development of economies that rely on water transport, whether for passengers or cargo.

Efficient ports are crucial for Angola’s competitiveness and its integration into global logistics chains and international trade circuits

. Enhancing the operation and efficiency of the Port of Namibe in the first quarter of 2025 will add value to the Southern Corridor, which will be put out to tender in the second half of this year,” stated the Minister of Transport.
