TAAG Launches Weekly Luanda-Lusaka Cargo Service to Boost Regional Trade
TAAG Angola Airlines has launched a dedicated weekly cargo service to Lusaka, strengthening air freight links between Angola and Zambia and supporting regional trade.
The inaugural flight operated on July 24 using a Boeing 737-800 freighter, carrying 12.8 tonnes of cargo originating from Amsterdam.
The shipment included machine parts, IT equipment, personal effects and other high-value goods.
The new service forms part of TAAG’s North-South logistics corridor, which is designed to connect cargo from Europe, China and Brazil with markets across Africa.
TAAG has partnered with NAC2000 to provide ramp and cargo-handling services, as well as general sales and services in Zambia. The airline said early demand has been encouraging, with cargo loads of 14 and 16 tonnes already scheduled for upcoming flights.
The Lusaka route is expected to strengthen trade and distribution opportunities between Zambia, Angola and international markets while supporting Zambia’s efforts to expand exports of products including beef, poultry and horticultural goods.
The service also expands TAAG’s dedicated freighter network, which already includes destinations such as Lagos, Brazzaville, Abidjan, Accra, Kinshasa, Nairobi and Johannesburg.
The new route reinforces Lusaka’s potential as a regional logistics hub while strengthening air connectivity between Southern and Central Africa and international supply chains.
