Emirates Debuts at Angola’s AIAAN Airport, Highlighting Economic Growth and Aviation Development

Yesterday, Emirates Airlines landed for the first time at Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN), becoming the first foreign carrier to operate at the airport since the transition from TAAG on October 19.

This milestone signals strong confidence in Angola and underscores the strategic potential of AIAAN as a catalyst for economic development and the country’s integration into international air routes.

It also reflects the vision and quality of Angola’s transport sector, backed by the dedication of its professionals and the steadfast support of international partners.

Special recognition was given to His Excellency President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, whose leadership and foresight made this infrastructure development possible, laying a foundation for Angola’s future in aviation.

The timing of Emirates’ inaugural flight is particularly significant, coming as the General State Budget for 2026 projects, for the first time in many years, non-oil revenues exceeding oil revenues.

The activity at AIAAN highlights the transport sector’s contribution to economic diversification and sustainable growth.

Yesterday marked a historic step for Angola’s aviation industry. Today, the country continues its commitment to building a more connected, modern, and globally competitive aviation sector, supporting broader economic development and international mobility.
