Tourism Minister Rodney Sikumba Bids Farewell to Emirates Country Manager Omar Bushlaibi
The Minister of Tourism, Honourable Rodney Sikumba, has officially bid farewell to the outgoing Emirates Airline Country Manager for Zambia, Mr. Omar Bushlaibi, who is set to assume a new posting in Zimbabwe.
During a courtesy call, Mr. Bushlaibi expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Government of the Republic of Zambia for its unwavering support throughout his tenure.
He praised the strong partnership that has flourished between Emirates and the Ministry of Tourism, expressing confidence that this collaborative relationship will continue under the leadership of the incoming Country Manager, Mr. Ahmad Ismail.
Acknowledging a Strong and Productive Partnership
In his remarks, Minister Sikumba commended Mr. Bushlaibi for his professionalism and dedication, noting his instrumental role in enhancing air connectivity and promoting Zambia’s tourism potential on the global stage.
He described the relationship between the Ministry and Emirates as “cordial and mutually beneficial,” underscoring the airline’s key role in facilitating international travel and positioning Zambia as a preferred tourism and investment destination.
Welcoming the Incoming Country Manager
Minister Sikumba extended a warm welcome to Mr. Ahmad Ismail, assuring him of the government’s continued support under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Emirates Airline and the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA).
He emphasized that such partnerships are vital in strengthening destination marketing and boosting tourist arrivals.
Promoting Zambia’s Culinary and Cultural Tourism
Highlighting the country’s growing focus on gastronomy tourism, the Minister encouraged Emirates to explore opportunities to feature Zambian and Zimbabwean cuisines on its in-flight menu as a way of showcasing regional culinary heritage.
He also proposed that the airline include audio-visual materials on board to promote Zambia’s diverse tourism attractions to international travellers.
Minister Sikumba noted that such initiatives play a pivotal role in positioning Zambia as a leading destination for authentic African experiences.
