TAAG Angola Airlines has launched a new cargo route connecting Luanda, Angola, to Nairobi, Kenya, marking a strategic step in the airline’s expansion across the African continent.
The inaugural flight took place on Wednesday and will now operate weekly, every Wednesday.
In an official statement, TAAG emphasized that the new Luanda–Nairobi (LAD-NBO) cargo service will prioritize the transport of flowers, capitalizing on Kenya’s status as one of the world’s leading floriculture exporters.
The airline estimates a cargo capacity of 18,000 kilograms per flight, with potential annual volumes ranging between 1 and 2 million kilograms.
“From Nairobi, we expect to transport a significant volume of flowers and other perishables to Angola and other destinations within the TAAG network,” the statement noted.
David Ambridge, TAAG’s Director of Cargo and Mail, highlighted that this route will open up new trade opportunities and strengthen the airline’s cargo network across Africa.
The new operation is part of TAAG’s broader expansion plan, leveraging Nairobi’s role as a key logistics hub in East Africa.
The route is expected to facilitate strategic connections to the United Arab Emirates and India, further enhancing regional and intercontinental trade links.
