RwandAir Expands Fleet with Boeing 737s and Upcoming Airbus A330 to Boost African and Global Connectivity

RwandAir has bolstered its operations this month with the addition of two new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, one of which has already entered service.

A third aircraft is expected to join the fleet in the fourth quarter of 2025, as the Kigali-based carrier works to improve reliability and reduce flight delays.

The airline has also returned several previously grounded aircraft to service following recent technical issues that temporarily affected fleet availability, resulting in schedule adjustments and cancellations.

Chief Executive Officer Yvonne Makolo acknowledged the disruptions and extended apologies to affected passengers. “RwandAir is pleased to have resolved the recent operational challenges and to welcome our aircraft back into service,” she said.

“The arrival of new aircraft strengthens our fleet, allowing us to enhance schedule reliability and provide a better travel experience for all our passengers.”

The newly delivered Boeing 737-800s are configured with 12 Business Class and 162 Economy Class seats, primarily serving short- and medium-haul routes across Africa and beyond.

Looking ahead, RwandAir plans to take delivery of a wide-body Airbus A330-200 in the fourth quarter of 2025.

This aircraft will expand the airline’s long-haul capabilities and support growing demand for intercontinental travel between Africa and global destinations.

These investments underline RwandAir’s commitment to modernizing its fleet and expanding its route network.

By adding both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, the airline aims to strengthen intra-African connectivity while maintaining its role as a strategic bridge between Africa and the rest of the world.
