Qatar Airways Launches World’s First Boeing 777 with Starlink Internet Service

Qatar Airways has launched the world’s first Boeing 777 equipped with Starlink, marking a significant advancement in in-flight connectivity.

The announcement was made via a media release sent using the ultra-high-speed, low-latency internet service while flying at 35,000 feet from Doha to London. The complimentary Starlink service is available to all passengers from gate to gate.

Initially targeting three Starlink-equipped aircraft, Qatar Airways now plans to deliver 12 upgraded Boeing 777-300s by the end of 2024 and aims to equip its entire Boeing 777 fleet by 2025—one year ahead of schedule. The Airbus A350 fleet is set to follow in the summer of 2025.

Engineered by SpaceX, Starlink is the world’s first and largest satellite constellation operating in low Earth orbit, providing passengers with reliable, high-speed internet.

This enables users to stay connected, stream entertainment, watch live sports, play online games, or work efficiently at 35,000 feet—all for free and with simple one-click access.

Qatar Airways’ Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, stated, “This milestone, along with our commitment to rapidly roll out Starlink across our entire modern fleet, demonstrates our relentless pursuit of offering passengers an in-flight experience that transcends the constraints of traditional air travel.”

By leveraging advanced satellites and extensive experience in spacecraft operations, Starlink delivers internet access globally, including over oceans and remote areas previously unreachable by conventional cell or Wi-Fi signals.
