HE Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways, commented, “Throughout the pandemic, Qatar Airways has remained steadfast in its commitment to servicing many African destinations.
As travel restrictions gradually ease, we are dedicated to expanding our network across the continent. Nigeria, boasting the largest economy and population in the region, presents immense potential for growth in travel and trade.
Our expansion into Kano and Port Harcourt underscores our unwavering dedication to Nigeria and our broader African growth strategy.”
He further added, “We anticipate robust demand between Port Harcourt and destinations such as the UK, USA, and various Asian countries.
Similarly, for Kano, we foresee opportunities to bolster traffic between markets like KSA and India, alongside promising cargo prospects.”
As travel restrictions continue to lift, Qatar Airways is resuming services to all African destinations. With the commencement of flights to Kano and Port Harcourt, the airline will offer 188 weekly flights to 28 destinations across Africa.
Additionally, African customers of Qatar Airways will benefit from generous baggage allowances, allowing up to 46kg in Economy Class, split over two pieces, and 64kg in Business Class, also split over two pieces.
