Proflight Zambia Enhances Flight Network to Support Growing Tourism and Business Travel
Proflight Zambia has announced major enhancements to its domestic and regional flight schedules, positioning the airline to capitalize on the country’s rapidly growing tourism sector.
Zambia aims to attract three million international visitors by 2025, following a remarkable 69% surge in arrivals during 2024, which increased numbers from 1.3 million to 2.2 million. Reliable air connectivity is now central to linking travelers with Zambia’s diverse destinations.
Key Network Enhancements
Lusaka–Livingstone Route: Daily frequencies doubled, adding 350 weekly seats to meet safari season demand and improve access to the Victoria Falls region.
Livingstone–Cape Town Connection: New twice-weekly direct flights, with extra Saturday services during peak holidays, eliminating the need for Johannesburg connections.
Lusaka–Kasama Route: Resumed twice-weekly services (one via Mansa) to northern Zambia’s emerging tourism regions.
Kafue National Park Seasonal Flights: Operating three times weekly from June to October to cater to eco-tourism travelers.
The network upgrades are expected to generate nearly 39,400 additional annual passengers, raising Proflight’s market share from 1.7% to 2.2%.
Fleet and Partnerships
Proflight operates a flexible fleet of five Bombardier CRJ-200 regional jets and British Aerospace Jetstream turboprops, allowing capacity adjustments across routes.
Interline agreements with Turkish Airlines, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, RwandAir, Air Tanzania, and CemAir provide connections to over 340 global destinations.
Business Travel and Reliability
Midday flights on the Lusaka–Johannesburg route have been reinstated, offering convenient same-day returns for business travelers.
Improved operational reliability is a priority, addressing one-third of aviation complaints in Africa and enhancing customer loyalty.
By strengthening connectivity, Proflight supports Zambia’s tourism growth and broader economic development in hospitality, transport, and related sectors.
With tourism projected to generate $1 billion by 2025, the airline’s expansion demonstrates how aviation can unlock Southern Africa’s full potential.
