The Port of Lobito unveiled its new “Landlord Port” management model, called the Senhorio program, during the 13th edition of the Benguela International Fair (FIB) 2024.
This model shifts the port’s role from direct container handling operations to overseeing and regulating maritime and port activities.
Implemented in the last quarter of the previous year, the Senhorio program delegates container loading and unloading operations to concessionaires.
África Global Logistics (AGL) now manages the Multipurpose Terminal for a 20-year period, while the Mineiro Terminal has been concessioned to Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) for 30 years.
Celso Rosas, President of the Board of Directors of Porto do Lobito, highlighted the port’s strategic shift and its focus on human capital development.
He emphasized that Porto do Lobito aims to maintain its position as the intermodal logistics center of the Lobito Corridor and is seeking partnerships for future projects, including the Cabotage Terminal and additional support services.
“Our objective is to maintain our position as the intermodal logistics center of the Lobito Corridor. Therefore, we continually invest in the development of human capital, because they are essential to guarantee a safe port open to the world,” Rosas stated.
In 2023, the Port of Lobito handled 13,432 containers, with 6,237 unloaded and 7,195 loaded, totaling 20,477 TEUs and 275,241 containerized tons.
Compared to 2022, the port saw a decrease of 23.10% in the number of containers, a 9.94% decrease in TEUs, and a 21.26% decrease in tonnage.

Celso Rosas thanked the retirees for their years of service and wished them happiness in their new phase of life.
Overall, the Port of Lobito’s new management approach and its recognition of dedicated workers highlight its commitment to growth, efficiency, and human capital development.
