MSC Enhances Iroko Service with New Direct Call at Cape Town

MSC Adds Direct Cape Town–Asia Link to Iroko Service, Cutting Transit Times for Reefer and Dry Cargo

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced an upgrade to its Iroko service, introducing a new direct call in Cape Town as part of efforts to expand port coverage and strengthen trade links between South Africa and key Asian markets.

“This strategic enhancement provides a direct connection between Cape Town and Asia, offering faster transit times and improved service for both dry and reefer cargo,” said MSC commercial executive Zane Godwin.

The first vessel scheduled to call at Cape Town under the updated rotation will be the MSC Anchorage, set to arrive between December 11 and 12.

According to Godwin, the upgraded service offers competitive transit times, including:

15 days from Cape Town to Singapore

21 days to Xiamen

24 days to Ningbo

27 days to Nansha

Additional transhipment options include:

Chattogram in approximately 28 days

Shanghai in 25 days

Port Klang in 23 days

The new service rotation will be:
Ningbo – Nansha – Singapore – Pointe Noire – Cotonou – Apapa – Tincan – Onne – Lobito – Cape Town – Singapore – Xiamen – Ningbo
