The Angola Sovereign Wealth Fund (FSDEA), in partnership with entrepreneur Haim Taib — Founder of the international firm Mitrelli and the Menomadin Group — has launched a $1 billion investment initiative to accelerate development along the Lobito Corridor.
This vital trade route spans Angola, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The new initiative, named the Lobito Corridor Impact Development (LCID) platform, will operate as an independent investment vehicle.
Its mission is to catalyze industrial and human development through strategic investments in infrastructure, agriculture, education, digital inclusion, and manufacturing.
To kick-start the platform, both FSDEA and Taib have each committed $50 million. LCID is actively inviting additional capital from institutional investors, sovereign partners, and private financiers.
Discussions are already underway with Zambia’s National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) to identify viable projects.
“This is a call for global investors to help shape the future of Africa,” said Taib. “The Lobito Corridor is more than a railway — it is a new economic artery for the continent.
It represents a powerful opportunity for African-led development supported by global partnerships rooted in trust, innovation, and shared prosperity.”
Projects seeking funding through LCID will undergo a transparent selection process led by an independent investment committee.
Approved initiatives will be structured through dedicated Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to ensure accountability and performance.
The platform prioritizes projects that deliver both financial returns and alignment with national development goals in Angola, Zambia, and the DRC.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to smart capital and long-term impact,” said Dr. Armando Manuel, Chairman of FSDEA.
“It’s an African-led model with global significance. We’re calling on sovereign funds and international investors to join us in transforming the Lobito Corridor into a scalable engine of prosperity and cooperation.”
