Europa Air & Sea recently chartered the Antonov 124, one of the world’s largest commercial aircraft, to transport time-critical cargo from the UK to the UAE.
The AN-124, capable of carrying up to 120 tonnes at take-off, facilitated the movement of cargo for one of the UK’s leading hydraulics manufacturers.
Despite facing challenges posed by adverse weather conditions, Europa’s Air & Sea division, with specialist teams in both the UAE and the UK, managed the cargo from pick-up to delivery.
The cargo underwent complex customs clearance processes for export to its UAE end-user, requiring meticulous planning and coordination.
Kevin Perry, Europa Air & Sea’s UK-based Airfreight Operations Manager, highlighted the project’s scale and timeliness, emphasizing the seamless movement of goods achieved through expertise and infrastructure.
Nathan Lynn, General Manager for Europa & Air Sea Dubai, emphasized the importance of collaboration between teams in both locations for successful cargo management.
Chris Lane, EMA’s Commercial Director, expressed delight in facilitating the Antonov’s operation at East Midlands Airport, showcasing the airport’s cargo operation capabilities.
As the UAE’s logistics sector continues to grow, demand for project cargo expertise is expected to increase, reflecting the region’s economic expansion and trade opportunities.
