Emirates Places US$38 Billion Order for 65 Boeing 777-9s at Dubai Airshow 2025

Emirates Orders 65 Boeing 777-9 Aircraft Worth $38 Billion, Expands Boeing 777X Fleet to 270

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has announced a major purchase of 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, powered by GE9X engines, in a deal valued at US$38 billion at list prices.

The announcement was made on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, marking one of the show’s most significant orders.

This latest agreement brings Emirates’ total Boeing orderbook to 315 widebody aircraft, comprising:

270 Boeing 777Xs

10 Boeing 777 Freighters

35 Boeing 787s

With today’s signing, the airline’s total GE Aerospace order for GE9X engines rises to 540 units, including 130 newly ordered engines.

The deal also supports Boeing’s ongoing feasibility study for the Boeing 777-10, a larger variant of the 777X family.

Emirates has secured the flexibility to convert part of its new 777-9 order into the 777-10 or 777-8, depending on future fleet requirements.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, stated:

“Emirates is already the world’s largest Boeing 777 operator, and this new US$38 billion order underscores our long-term commitment to Boeing, GE, and the US aerospace industry.

Each aircraft has been carefully factored into Emirates’ expansion plans and aligned with Dubai’s growth strategy. We look forward to receiving our first 777-9s from Q2 2027, featuring industry-leading onboard products.”

On the 777-10 feasibility study, he added:

“We support Boeing’s efforts to develop larger and more efficient aircraft. Our latest order includes options to convert to the 777-10 or 777-8 to meet evolving demand.”

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, commented:

“We are honoured that Emirates has once again chosen the Boeing 777X to power its world-class fleet. Boeing has proudly partnered with Emirates for more than 40 years, and we look forward to many more decades of collaboration.”

Russell Stokes, President & CEO, Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, added:

“Emirates’ additional GE9X engine order demonstrates strong confidence in our technology. We are ready to support their fleet with the efficiency and durability of the GE9X engine family.”

Emirates operates the world’s largest Boeing 777 fleet, connecting Dubai to more than 140 destinations across six continents.

With this new order, Boeing deliveries to Emirates are expected to continue through 2038, supporting thousands of high-value aerospace manufacturing jobs in the United States.
