Emirates has announced a firm order for five additional Boeing 777 freighters, scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2026.
This latest order brings the airline’s pending deliveries of the Boeing 777F to a total of 14, set to arrive by the end of 2026.
To further bolster its cargo capacity, Emirates has also extended a multi-year lease with Dubai Aerospace Enterprise for four Boeing 777 freighters currently in its fleet.
As a result, Emirates SkyCargo anticipates operating a fleet of 21 production-built Boeing 777 freighters by December 2026, marking a substantial increase from its current 11-unit fleet.
The airline is also progressing with plans to convert 10 passenger Boeing 777-300ERs into freighters, further expanding its fleet capacity.
“We’re investing in new freighter aircraft to meet surging demand,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, highlighting Dubai’s emerging role as a preferred global logistics hub.
In line with this vision, the Dubai government is advancing the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) to become the world’s largest cargo hub, with a target capacity of 12 million tonnes annually.
The expanded DWC will anchor the nearby Logistics District, an international center for cargo and shipping companies, reinforcing Dubai’s master plan to establish itself as a leading multimodal hub for air, sea, and land logistics.
