Emirates and Air Canada Extend Strategic Partnership to 2032, Expanding Global Connectivity and Cargo Operations
Emirates and Air Canada have announced a major expansion and early renewal of their strategic partnership, extending their cooperation until 2032.
The strengthened agreement builds on the success of their collaboration since 2022, which has already connected more than 550,000 passengers across 56 codeshare routes spanning Canada, the United States, Dubai, and key global destinations.
Deepened Codeshare and Loyalty Integration
The two airlines signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance their reciprocal codeshare and loyalty partnership. The expanded cooperation will offer travellers:
Greater connectivity across Canada and global destinations
Improved loyalty benefits
Access to new Canadian gateways
Enhanced premium services at more airports
Cargo operations will also benefit, supporting trade between the Americas, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.
Air Canada: Strengthening International Growth
Air Canada’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Mark Galardo, said the renewed partnership aligns with the airline’s international expansion strategy. He highlighted that it reinforces year-round Toronto–Dubai service and enhances global connections for customers with ties to key regions served by the network.
Emirates: A Successful and Strategic Alliance
Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, described the partnership as “highly successful,” noting its importance for both passenger travel and cargo operations. He emphasized that deeper cooperation will help drive trade between the UAE and Canada, creating new economic opportunities.
Future Planning and Network Expansion
As part of long-term planning, both airlines are preparing for a future move to Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport after 2032.
The partnership has expanded steadily since its launch. Today:
Emirates customers can access 37 Air Canada destinations in Canada and the United States.
Air Canada places its code on 19 Emirates routes across the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.
Together, their interline and codeshare network connects passengers to over 225 destinations worldwide.
Enhanced Loyalty Benefits
Mary-Jane Lorette, Air Canada’s Vice President of International Affairs, Network & Partnerships, praised the collaboration as one of the airline’s most effective.
She confirmed that both Aeroplan and Skywards members will soon be able to earn and redeem points in Premium Economy, expanding reward options across all cabin classes.
Support for Growing Canada–UAE Trade
The partnership also bolsters trade relations. Bilateral trade between Canada and the UAE increased 14% between 2022 and 2023, with Canadian exports reaching CAD 3.3 billion in 2024. Shipments on Emirates aircraft continue to rise, driven by growing demand from Canadian businesses.
Daily Flights Strengthen Connectivity
Air Canada operates daily Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights between Toronto and Dubai.
Emirates offers daily A380 flights to Toronto and seven weekly Boeing 777 flights to Montréal.
Travellers benefit from smoother connections, improved lounge access for eligible passengers, and greater choice across both global networks.
