The Angola Ports Association (APANG) advocates for increased investment in maritime transport to address challenges related to internal mobility and competitive pricing.
Manuel Nazaré Neto, President of APANG, emphasized the importance of staff training, infrastructure development, and port equipment modernization in enhancing domestic maritime transport.
He urged the private sector to prioritize maritime passenger transport, emphasizing its pivotal role in national development.
Speaking at the fifth round table on “National cabotage and the impact on the economy” in Cabinda, Neto highlighted the necessity for trained technicians and effective digitization systems to keep pace with international developments.
He cited ongoing projects such as logistics platforms, port modernization initiatives, and the construction of terminals in Namibe and Cabinda provinces to bolster domestic cabotage.
Neto underscored the inadequacy of current vessels for transporting goods between Soyo and Cabinda, emphasizing the need for modernization in the sector.
Representing Transport Minister Ricardo d’Abreu, Secretary of State Rui Carreira attended the event, signaling government interest and support in advancing the maritime transport sector.
