After a 30-year hiatus, the railway connection between Algeria and Tunisia is officially back in operation. The service, initially halted in 1995 due to security concerns and again suspended in 2003 due to technical issues, marks a significant step in strengthening economic and social ties between the two North African nations.
The National Company for Rail Transport in Algeria announced the resumption of services, with the inaugural commercial journey departing from Tunis on Sunday.
The train line spans 357 kilometers, offering a daily service between Annaba in Algeria and Tunis, passing through several cities in both countries.
Passengers can choose between first-class and second-class seating, with a total capacity of 300 per trip. The train is equipped with a dining car and a separate luggage carriage, providing a comfortable and convenient travel experience for all.
